Bollywood actress Shanti Priya, who starred opposite Akshay Kumar in her debut film ‘Sugandh’, has shaved her head in a challenge to the beauty norms set by society.
Shanti Priya shared some pictures of her new, hairless look, in which she is seen in a beige suit. The special thing is that she was wearing a coat belonging to her late husband Siddharth Ray, who passed away in 2004.
Shanti wrote in the caption with her picture, “I recently shaved my head, and this experience was truly something unique. As women, we often impose restrictions on ourselves in life, follow rules and lock ourselves in a cage. With this change, I have set myself free, free from the restrictions placed on me! I want to break the beauty standards set by the world, and I am doing this with a lot of courage and determination.”
She further wrote, “Today, I feel the memory of my late husband close to me, in his blazer, which still holds his warmth.”
While some people praised Shantipriya’s decision, others criticized it. One user wrote, “What did you do? Long hair is the beauty of South Indians, why did you do this?” Shantipriya replied, “Don’t think that everyone should look a certain way.”
Before this decision, Shantipriya also had concerns that it might affect her work opportunities, as society views actresses in a certain way. She told The Times of India, “I asked myself, am I making decisions based on fear?” But then she listened to her heart and decided to shave her hair.
